Step 1
The Great HallStart your day on the beautiful surroundings of the Theosophical Society. The world's headquarters for the Theosophical Society are located here in Chennai in the tranquil Adyar neighborhood, just opposite the Malar Hospital. It is located on 300 acres of property, which have religious houses of worship from all religions. It is open from 8 to 10am and again from 2 to 4pm. A must-visit site is the Great Hall which is a monument to the history of the Theosophical Society and to all the religions of the world. You should give yourself one to two hours to properly tour the grounds and visit the different religious sites of worship.

Step 2
Kapaleeswarar TempleContinue from here to Mylapore to visit the largest Hindu temple in the city, the Kapaleeswarar Temple. It is built in the ancient Dravidian Temple sculpture and architecture. The main tower is 37m high with intricate carvings of gods all the way up. If you are a non-Hindu, you will be able to visit this temple but will be restricted from certain areas.

By this time, you are probably hungry and should take a break for lunch. When looking for a place to eat, ensure that it is relatively clean and realize it is safe not to drink the water served. Order either mineral water or sodas.

St. Mary's Church inside Fort St. GeorgeYou should now head down to Fort St. George in North Chennai. This was where it all started for the British in what was then called Madras. Established in 1640, the Fort houses the St. Mary Church, as well as a Museum which traces British History in Chennai. The Museum is worth a visit, but as it is small, it will not take you more than a hour to visit.

Step 5
Down a Lane in Parry's CornerFrom here, proceed further north in Chennai to place called Parry's Corner/Georgetown. Visiting here will deter you from ever calling Chennai a tranquil city again. Parry's Corner is a miniature version of India with people from all over the nation making their home here. With small lanes specializing in one merchandise, for example, flower lane and electronic lane, it is an area of small, crowded lanes and an area that can entice you for hours. Be sure to bring your camera as this is a photographer's paradise with its vibrant colors, people, and crowded, narrow lanes.

Step 6
By now, you are probably exhausted from your day. Why not make your way to Sathyam Theaters in Royapettah to catch a movie. You can either look in the local paper for listings or find out what is showing at the cinema hall. Tickets will cost anywhere from Rs. 40 to over Rs. 100 depending on which class of seating you choose. Ticket booths are at the front of the cinema hall.
