If you're looking for a new craft project for the holidays, you can start with your sock drawer! Socks can easily be turned into Christmas stockings that you can use for decorations, or just as a real stocking waiting to be stuffed on Christmas Eve. Here's how to turn a sock into a Christmas stocking.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Pair of old/new socks in red, black, green or white
  • Colored markers
  • Beads
  • Sequins
  • Christmas stickers
  • Fabric glue
Step1
Draw your Christmas design onto the socks. Sketch out a character, Christmas icon or a unique design to decorate.
Step2
Add beads and sequins. Decorate the sock with beads and sequins to add a festive touch.
Step3
Add some Christmas stickers. This is an easy way to decorate the socks if you're low on creativity!
Step4
Fill the socks. If you're using the socks as a real Christmas stocking, wait until Christmas Eve to fill them. If they're only going to be decorations, fill them with newspaper or pillow stuffing.
Step5
Hang them up! You're ready to display your masterpiece; hook them onto a mantel, the side of a table, or even to a tree if they're small enough.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be creative with the decorations and add bows, ribbon, piping and even Christmas confetti
  • Choose an oversized sock if you're going to fill it with candy and treats
  • Don't use old and worn-out socks; you're going to be decorating with them, so pick a pair that will look attractive!
