This is a rum-based drink marked by its extreme sweetness; stay too long with the Florida cocktail and you may start feeling a little sticky. Still, as an odd, little-known cocktail, the Florida is a good recipe to have in your brain should you tire of the usual rum drinks.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 ozs. dark rum
  • 1/4 oz. triple sec
  • 1/4 oz. maraschino liqueur
  • 3/4 oz. orange juice
  • Cocktail shaker and strainer
  • Cocktail glass (chilled)
  • Ice
  1. Step 1

    Add ice to your cocktail glass.

  2. Step 2

    Add the dark rum.

  3. Step 3

    Throw in the triple sec.

  4. Step 4

    Add the maraschino liqueur.

  5. Step 5

    Add the orange juice.

  6. Step 6

    Mix the drink well with a hard 6- to 10-count shake of your cocktail shaker, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • This drink is sweet enough as it is and needs no fruity garnish.
  • There should be no ice in your cocktail glass.
