Here is a delicious, easy to make candy that is great for the holidays. It's also a good candy to make with children because it doesn't involve heating to dangerously high temperatures. Kids enjoy molding and dipping the peanut butter balls. They can even get creative and make their own shapes. Plus, these candies make wonderful gifts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 16-oz. jar of peanut butter, creamy or crunchy
  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • 3 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1 large bag of chocolate chips, melted

How to Make Peanut Butter Candy Balls

Step1
With a hand or stand mixer, mix the peanut butter and butter together until smooth.
Step2
Add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well between each addition, until a soft dough forms. The peanut butter candy dough should be firm enough to be handled without sticking too much to your fingers. If it is too sticky for comfort, add a little more powdered sugar.
Step3
Use a tablespoon to scoop out even-sized pieces of candy dough and roll them into balls. Place the balls on waxed paper.
Step4
Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. For detailed directions on how to do this, see eHow article How To Melt Chocolate Chips in the Microwave.
Step5
Using a spoon, roll each candy peanut butter ball in the melted chocolate to coat and place the coated candies on waxed paper lined cookie sheets. To harden them quickly, place the trays in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Store the candy in an airtight container at room temperature.

Tips & Warnings

  • Place these candies in decorative tins lined with waxed paper to give as gifts.
