A drafty home is not only cold, it's also costly. But there are a few quick fixes that can stop up those air leaks for good.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Find the source. At the sign of the first chill, check all windows, doors and other entryways for the unwanted leak of cold air.
Step2
Place "draft dodgers" or bulky blankets at the base of all doors.
Step3
Purchase a window insulation kit at your local hardware store. (They are usually priced around $5 and insulate approximately 3 windows.) This shrink film is taped on the interior of any drafty window and then sealed by the heat of a standard hair dryer.
Step4
Invest in a small space heater. If placed in the appropriate drafty location, it can counteract most of those unwanted breezes.

on 3/5/2008 You can make your own "doorsnake", "doorsock",
"draftdodger", "water eater", by filling old socks with cotton balls, tieing them together, and once week throw'em in the wash machine.
