Are you at a loss for ideas on how to decorate those windows for Christmas or you could just not have the extra money? A great Step by Step provided for a window display that is inexpensive and unique.
So you want to get those windows in the holiday spirit without breaking the bank. Acrylic is a paint that dries into plastic which would normally peal off of windows. When mixed with liquid dish soap it becomes a coating agent that is easily removed. It then has a soap base dried into it for clean up which also keeps it from peeling.
Step2
To get started, you need to mix each color with the liquid soap. Clear works best as it does not change the color of the acrylic. A 50/50 split should do. Half paint and half soap should keep the paint of the window until water is applied at a later date.
Step3
Once you have your paints mixed grab up a paint brush and go to town. Christmas trees and jingle bells come to the top of the list but you could do this year round. If you’re looking for a winter wonderland you can cut snowflakes out of paper and use them as stencils. No artistic abilities needed if you have internet access, printer, and some scissors. Cookie cutters make great stencils too.
Step4
When it is time for clean up use an older cleaning towel and a bucket of hot water. The soap is already on the window and the picture should wipe away with little to no effort.
Tips & Warnings
Clear dish soap works better then colored
Clean window before painting if there is dust
You might consider laying out an old sheet if the kids are helping
Acrylic does not remove well from clothing or carpet fibers take care when useing even a soap/acrylic mixture.
Watch for leaky windows. If your windows tend to leak you could lose your design, this mixture is removable with water from glass.
