  • Search Engine
  1. Step 1

You can add photos as you go along in your article writing process or you can come back later and edit your article to add photos in. eHow gives you that versatility. Let's go on with assuming your doing them afterwards only so I don't need to include the steps of writing an article. The placements are the same, regardless.

  2. Step 2
Get Started - adding photo image

On the first page of your article writing process; otherwise marked up top with the '1 Get Started' link.

Area circled on this photo. Click to enlarge.

  3. Step 3

Looking down on this page you will see a section marked with a B is where it says 'Add An Image'. Click the text that says 'Add An Image' which has the little orangish colored arrow to the left of it.

  4. Step 4
    Browse to Image - eHow

Now you will see two blanks. One says Browse. The other says Image Caption.

  5. Step 5
Surf Folders for images - eHow

Click the Browse button and surf through the folders and files on your computer until you locate the photo you'd like to use. For this first photo make sure that the photo is especially attractive.

  6. Step 6
    Image caption - eHow
    Image caption - eHow

Now in the blank above where it says Image Caption, insert a caption. You don't have to but if you do, it can add valued keywords to your article efforts. Just be sure it makes sense to whomever reads it and not just a list of silly keywords.

  7. Step 7
Give Credit for Images - eHow

At step D it says 'Add Image and/or Video Credits'. Be sure to click this and fill in where you got the photos from. If they are of your own taking, you don't need to fill this out but it doesn't hurt to give credit to yourself either.

  8. Step 8
    Add Image button - eHow

On the next page, 2 - Article Steps, you will see highlighted blue text just below each step in your article. Clicking this will bring up the same Browse and Photo Caption blanks again. Repeat steps 5 and 6 of this article.

  9. Step 9

There! Your articles have been added. Be sure to save your changes at the bottom of each page and then hit publish so your photos go live.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using your own photos is wonderful but you can also use other photos from the internet WITH PERMISSION. Be sure to check terms of service on those free photo sites or perhaps you wish to go for even higher quality and use a paid photo bank service. Usually these can be had for $1 an image and can be used in multiple articles, etc. Still, be sure to check those terms of service. If it's not covered under the TOS, email and ask the webmaster. Keep your permission on file.
  • I have separate folders for housing photos on my computer which are named after the sites where they were found. This makes giving credit where credit is due much easier.

on 12/26/2008 Thanks for the step by step. There's so much for a newbie to learn, it's good to have even seemingly simple things spelled out!
