For the gin lover, there are few joys as simple and delicious as the Gin Fizz. A staple of the older generation but one that seems to be in danger of passing this next wave of cocktailers by, the Gin Fizz deserves a place in your drink rotation if you consider yourself a classy person.

From Quick Guide: Gin Cocktails
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 ounces gin
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup
  • Club soda
  • Powdered sugar
  • Cocktail shaker and strainer
  • Collins glass (optional)
  • Ice
  1. Step 1

Add ice to your cocktail shaker, along with the following:
    2 ounces gin
    1 ounce lemon juice
    1/4 ounce simple syrup
Powdered sugar (no more than a barspoon)

  2. Step 2

Mix the drink up with a strong six to 10 count shake of your cocktail shaker and then strain it into a collins glass over ice.

  3. Step 3

Add club soda and you've got your "fizz."

Tips & Warnings
  • Now, if you're lazy, you can add 1 1/4 ounces pre-made sweet and sour mix to the drink in lieu of the lemon juice, simple syrup and powdered sugar, but the drink will lose the crispness it's celebrated for.
