Feng Shui is the Chinese art of placement. It was created to bring a sense of comfort and harmony to living spaces. Feng Shui designers say that following the principles of Feng Shui when decorating your nursery will provide your baby with a safe, nurturing environment that will support his growth and development.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use a bague map. This is a octagonal shape grid with the nine areas of feng shui. They are wealth, fame/recognition, love/relationships, family, health, children/creativity, knowledge, career and helpful people. Sketch a rough draft of the nursery and then place the bague map over it. The bottom of the map should line up with the doorway.

  2. Step 2

Consider the location of the nursery in your home. If it is not an ideal location, then you will need to utilize Feng Shui cures to create a healthy space. An example of a poor location is a nursery that faces the street. The noise and activity will make it difficult for the baby to rest.

  3. Step 3

Consider the shape of the room. The ideal shape is a square or rectangle without sloping or vaulted ceilings and beams.

  4. Step 4

Choose colors carefully. In feng shui colors are associated with energy. Bright colors like red and orange are yang colors. Yin colors like blue, green and yellow are calming.

  5. Step 5

Eliminate clutter from the room. Clutter disrupts the flow of chi.
