Take a driver education course. A classroom course will always be more effective than an online class. (Because you can ask questions and get clarifications.)
Step2
Get your state's DMV Driving Handbook and know it forwards and backwards. Be sure to pay close attention to any information that contains numbers. The numbers can be similar and easy to mix-up.
Step3
Take an online practice permit test. They are available for free in some places, but paying $10 or so will get you one that is a lot more detailed and which has been carefully updated and edited for accuracy. I found a good one at www.mypracticepermittest.com, and they even have a free sample permit test to see if you like it.
Tips & Warnings
Take those practice driving tests! It is important that you make sure you know the infomation...not just so you pass your DMV permit test, but so that you are safe when you start driving.
Watch the details...the "smaller" details seem less important, but they are normally the ones you will miss on your DMV test. Get down to the details and be sure you know this material well.
Avoid the online driver education courses if you can. A living, breathing teacher can answer questions for you, and clarify any issues that are unclear.
