How to Take a Memorable Newborn Picture

Anyone with a digital camera can take a memorable picture of their newborn, and make it look like a it was a professional who took it.

Things You'll Need

• Digital Camera
• Good lighting
• A Parent and a Baby
• A Digital Photo Editing Program

Instructions

1. 

   Make sure you have sufficient light for the picture. Even if you use a flash there still needs to be adequate light. You may want to set up a lamp near the subjects, or take the picture in front of a window (during the day) with the window behind the photographer.

   Undress the baby leaving only the dipper on (you will crop the dipper out of the picture later). This should cause the baby to be more alert, now some babies don't like to be undressed so this may take some time to get pictures when the baby isn't crying.
   Then have the person holding the baby put on a black shirt and even black pants if you have them.

   Then using your imagination place the baby and the hands and arms of the adult in different positions and take as many pictures as you can of each position. That way you won't have to go back and try it again. The pictures provided on this page should give you a few ideas and possessions to start with.

   After taking the pictures you will need to edit them on a computer. It's best to change the color of the picture to sepia, or black and white. Then in almost ever case bring up the contrast until the black in the background is completely black and you can't see any of the details from the cloths in the picture. In order to counter this you may need to adjust the brightness a touch. Then Crop out any unwanted parts of the picture so that you're left with only the subjects and the black background.

• You can take multipul pictures of the same posstion by zooming in or out or moving your shooting possition ever so slightly to the left or right or moving higher or lower.
