How to Convert California Time to Philippine Time

For those of you fellow Filipinos out there who are calling long distance from California to Manila, Philippines, one question I'm sure you always ask your loved ones back home is, "What time is it there?!" as if to break the ice and start the conversation ball rolling.

It has become our equivalent of the inevitable conversation about the weather. Well, boring time-conversion chitchat no more. Here is an easy way to convert California, USA time to Manila, Philippines time once and for all.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Big clock set to California time

Step 1

Note what time it says on the clock, say for example it's 10 PM Pacific Standard Time here, meaning it's 10 PM here in California.
Step 2

Reverse the time into the opposite meridian. Meaning, since in our example it is 10 PM, change it into 10 AM. So our working time now is 10 AM.
Step 3

Go forward four hours more. Meaning, 10 plus 4 equals 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM. (Long explanation for this: Manila is sixteen hours ahead of California, so to the 12 hours of clock time already done by changing PM to AM, we add 4 hours more.)
Step 4

Know that if it is 10 PM here in California, it is already 2 PM in Manila of the following day. Remember, they are ahead of us by one day (16 hours, to be exact) since they are in the East.
