Do you have a novel just sitting on your computer, but are not sure how to go about getting it to a publisher? Well, first you need to find a literary agent. To get your novel noticed by a literary agent you will need to do something called a "Writer's Query." Here is an easy to follow guide to getting it done.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your computer
  • Copy of your novel, either on your computer or printed out
  1. Step 1

Write a summary of your novel. Think about what you would like to see on the back of a book, or on the book jacket.

  2. Step 2

Go through your main characters in your novel and write a summary of each character.

  3. Step 3

Summarize the setting. If it takes place in multiple places, describe the main areas.

  4. Step 4

Go through each chapter, if it has a name, give the name and then summarize in a paragraph what happens in that chapter. If you're writer's query is not over ten pages, then rethink your writer's query.

  5. Step 5

Edit and send out your writer's query to potential literary agents.
