Got writer's block? Me, too. Here are some ways to come up with an article idea.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sit at your desk, kitchen table, computer, porch swing or park bench and think. Think some more. If nothing comes to you, don't fret. Move on to the next step.

  2. Step 2

Procrastination may not be such a good thing if you're on deadline. After the initial brainstorming attempt, try a cup of hot cocoa, a refill of the dog's food bowl, or a brisk walk outside to clear your thoughts and get back on track with your unwritten article.

  3. Step 3

Still nothing? Okay, here's where your friends become your best friends. Call, walk over, or have them sit down and stare at the computer screen over your shoulder as you type even the most ridiculous stream of consciousness material you both can muster. Something is bound to come of it.

  4. Step 4

Once you've hit upon a topic, write like the wind! Be detail-oriented, specific, general and everything in between. Don't be afraid to voice your opinion or your friend's opinion. Argue over opinions; it will give you more to think about and work with. Just keep in mind your deadline.
