Traveling in the Middle East is difficult, but there are still oasis' in the Middle East to travel. Like any place that you travel there are rules that you must follow and in the Middle East it could be the difference between life and death.

Things You'll Need:

  • head covering (depending on where you go)
  • conservative clothing
  • male relative or friend
  • Money belt
  1. Step 1

    Be aware of how you present yourself. Skirts should come to your ankles, sleeves should be long. Depending on where you go, sandles might be considered to casual and disrespectful. Bring a good pair of shoes. Do not wear shorts! It is considered to casual and disrespectful.

  2. Step 2

    If you plan on visiting a mosque find out the rituals that you will have to go through prior to being allowed in.

  3. Step 3

    Always have a male escort. In some places in the Middle Eastern a woman is not allowed outside without a male escort, married or not and is considered against the law.

  4. Step 4

    Leave your expensive jewelry at home. You want to blend into the crowd, and be as modest as you can. The better you blend in, the more likely you will go unnoticed and not gain unwanted attention.

  5. Step 5

    Research and study how the locals act, and try to adapt to that behavior so you will not be singled out as a tourist. Try not to live up the American stereotype.

  • If you get into legal trouble in a Middle Eastern country be warned that your a subjected to their laws.
