Things You'll Need:

Step 1
Research where you would like to go. Do you want to go abroad, or stay close to home? By finding where you would like to go, you can financially plan for your trip. If you go to a bigger city, like San Fransisco, hotel spending will be different then if you went to Boise.
-
Step 2
Research on the means to get to the destination. Will you drive, take a bus, train or plane?
-
Step 3
Decide on how much you are willing to spend on a hotel, try looking for deals for under $100 a night. It is not impossible to find prices for under $100. If you are a AAA member or a student, you can get a discount at most places.
-
Step 4
Book your hotel in advanced. Sometimes if you book during off-season for an on-season trip you will get a discount. If you leave during Monday through Thursday, you will also pay less.
-
Step 5
Budget in hotel and transportation. If the city you are going to visit has a bus system, find out how much a pass will cost. If there is a subway system, find out the system that it takes to get a pass for the subway. With the money that you save from the hotels and transportation spend the money on souvenirs, and food.
