Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- 2 lbs. ground beef sirloin
- 1/2 lb ground veal
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup fresh chopped parsley
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/4 tsp. marjoram
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 3 slices bacon
- salt and pepper to your taste
Step1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a loaf pan (8" X 4") and put to one side.
Step2
Saute the celery and onions in the butter in a frying pan for about 5 minutes or until they are soft.
Step3
Put the celery and onions in a mixing bowl and then add the ground beef, veal, and pork, sour cream, bread crumbs, marjoram, thyme, salt and pepper.
Step4
Mix the egg and Worcestershire with a whisk in a small bowl and then add to the meat mixture.
Step5
Mix all of these ingredients moderately-- with your hands, or with a large wooden spoon.
Mold this into the loaf pan.
Step6
Top the loaf with the ketchup and the bacon slices.
Step7
Bake in oven until the loaf is brown (approximately one hour).
