You should strive to maintain a safe and productive atmosphere on your film shoot, no matter what your budget is. Most precautions are common sense, but some may be state or city mandated. To reduce accidents, you need to constantly be aware of your environment, your location and your equipment. Here are a few additional tips.

Step1
Always obey all non-smoking signs and strictly enforce regulations amongst your crew and cast.
Step2
Make sure your crew is dressed appropriately for their job and the work conditions. Always supply protective clothing to those handling dangerous equipment, such as goggles, gloves, etc.
Step3
Never work, or allow others to work, under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Step4
Maintain walkways and emergency exits, making sure they are clear of obstacles and other blockage.
Step5
Always tape down cables and secure rolling carts.
Step6
Make sure fire extinguishers and first aid kits are available and accessible at all times.
Step7
Take all necessary precautions with flammable materials and other effects.
Step8
Encourage your cast and crew to get enough sleep for the long and tiring production days.
