If you have finished your movie and are ready to create a DVD, a great program to use is Adobe Encore. The first thing you will need for your DVD is a menu. Once you have started a project and a menu with text buttons, you can create an effect called a “Subpicture” that shows your viewer the button is active when selected with the DVD remote.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Adobe Encore
  • Digitized Movie File

Step1
Open the Adobe Encore program and open the project you are working on, by going to "File," "Open." Go to "Window," and "Menu" to open the Menu Editor Window.
Step2
Click on the selection tool in the toolbox. It looks like an arrow. Use the selection tool to select one of the buttons you have created in the menu.
Step3
Go to "Object," then "Create Subpicture." Then go to "View," and "Show Selected Subpicture" so you can see how the button will look when it is clicked on. Repeat the above step for each button.
Step4
Go to "Edit," then "Color Sets," then "Menu." In the box that opens, click the "New Color Set" button. Give your color set a name, so you can easily find it.
Step5
In "Highlight Group Section" one, click on the color chooser and choose the color you want to appear when your button is selected.
Step6
From the "Opacity Menu," choose a number between 50 and 80 percent.
Step7
Go back out to the "Properties" tab for the "Menu," and from "Color Set," choose the name of the new color set you just created.
Step8
Save your work.
