Step 1
Take an inventory of your lifestyle. If you are homebound, then you'll probably want a piece of exercise equipment. A great choice is an elliptical machine. Ellipticals are great because they work your legs and your arms. Don't get a 1200 dollar elliptical machine that takes up three quarters of your basement. Instead, get the 300 dollar machine. It will suit your needs just fine.

Step 2
If you are a stay-at-home parent, a great time to exercise is during your child's nap. If your children aren't great sleepers, they sometimes love having you in one spot while they play nearby. Use this opportunity to improve your health.

Step 3
When you start working out, you don't want to experience pain. In fact, what you are trying to achieve is a slightly elevated heart rate for 15-20 minutes three times a week for the first few weeks. This allows your body to adjust to the change, and gives your mind time to adjust as well. Try beginning your workout on Monday, continuing on Wednesday and then Friday. Start out gradually, going for 15 minutes at a time the first week and then adding minutes as you feel comfortable in the following weeks.

Step 4
Once you are into the routine of your workout, you may begin to increase resistance and time to suit your growing abilities. After a month or so, exercise will become something you crave.
