Things You'll Need:

Step 1
Minimalism is best when it comes to yoga. You have probably noticed most yoga studios don’t have too much on the walls, only a couple of candles present and natural lighting. Try to recreate this in your home yoga sanctuary. Splurge on a nice candle or two, turn the lights down, and be very selective with what art you hang.
-
Step 2
Make sure the room has a stereo with good quality speakers. Music is such an important part of creating your yoga sanctuary. Make sure your sound quality is good.
-
Step 3
Make sure the room is clear of clutter. It’s nice to have a home office that doubles as your yoga sanctuary. Just make sure you don’t have file boxes and other office stuff clogging up the room’s energy. Incorporate principles of Feng Shui if you’d like in order to keep the energy moving freely.
-
Step 4
It can’t be a sanctuary if people are going to be coming in to interrupt you during your yoga practice. Make or find a “do not disturb yoga in progress” sign to hang on your door.
-
Step 5
Food or tea can make great additions to a yoga sanctuary. Lots of people like to incorporate tea or quality chocolate into a yoga practice. Keep a little tea set handy so you can enjoy refreshments after a long yoga practice.
-
Step 6
To nurture your spiritual side, make an altar to the Divine with meaningful objects like candles and statues of deities. Tailor it to your personal faith and spirituality. Keep some spiritual texts of your choosing in the room.
