You love TV so much, you want to devote all of your blogging to it. TV Guide makes that easy for tube fans by hosting a community section right on its very own website. Yes, nobodies from all over can start a blog focused on the small screen after completing a very simple registration process. The best part is that community blogs are well integrated within the larger website, even allowing the writing of select casual bloggers to appear on the homepage.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Visit the TV Guide website and register by clicking on the link that says "New User Sign Up" at the top right of the page. This link is available on every page in the same location, just in case you want to begin the process at another place.
Step2
Enter the required information on the next page, which includes a username, a password, an email address, and your birthday. The birthday is required to make sure you are old enough to participate on the TV Guide website legally.
Step3
Determine your username with great care. You will use it to log into the site whenever you visit in the future. The name will also follow you around the website because it will appear on every post and comment you make.
Step4
Choose a secure and memorable password, as well. Although you can retrieve it later if you forget it, that's always an avoidable hassle.
Step5
Decide on your preferred name for your blog. By default, a new blog is called "username's Blog" (with "username" replaced by the username you entered during the registration process) until the user changes it to something more personal.
Step6
Click on the link that says "My Preferences" on the left sidebar menu and locate the area that says "Blog Name" near the bottom of the next page. This is where you enter the name that you would like for everyone to call your blog. There are also other options on this page, such as including a short biography and indicating your occupation and personal website.
Step7
Save the new information you entered by clicking the button that says "Save" at the bottom left of the page and then click on the link that says "Go Back" at the top right of the page.
Step8
Select the link that says "My Blog" on the left sidebar menu beneath "My Profile" and then click on the link that says "Post New Blog Entry" on the top right of the next page.
Step9
Write your new post about anything related to television and click the button that says "Post New Blog Entry" at the bottom of the page when you're done.

Tips & Warnings

  • The TV Guide online community contains many active participants who have unique, diverse, and informed opinions about television. There's an active effort to make the community blog area of the website a friendly, or at least respectful, place to share your thoughts. Members who heed this well-known fact are embraced.
  • You can edit your posts on your TV Guide blog until someone leaves a comment. After the first comment is left, editing the content of the post is disabled. Members can always edit their own comments, however, on their own blog or the blogs of other members.
