How to Make Pear Compote

This is the perfect ending to a winter meal, when pears are in season and cooked fruit is just what the doctor ordered.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 small pan
  • 4 large, ripe Bartlett or Bosc pears
  • 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 1/4 C crushed walnuts
  1. Step 1

    Cut the pears into quarters, removing the cores and seeds.

  2. Step 2

    Combine the pears, lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Heat the walnuts in a dry pan, stirring, about 3 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Divide the pear into bowls. Add the walnuts and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • This compote is delicious with vanilla ice cream.
  • Try adding a dash of sherry for a sinfully delicious treat.
