How to Make An Arugula, Pear, Parmesan and Walnut Salad

This salad with arugula, pear, parmesan and walnut will delight even the hardest to please picky salad eaters. It is easy to make and is a perfect first course, especially during the fall and winter when pears are at their best.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 skillet
  • 1-2 bunches (about 4 C) of arugula, washed well and trimmed
  • 1/3 crushed walnuts
  • 1 ripe pear- Bartlett or Bosc work well
  • 1 garlic clove, halved
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbs. fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Small wedge parmesan cheese
  1. Step 1

    Cut the garlic clove in half and rub the inside of the mixing bowl with one of the halves.

  2. Step 2

    Add the honey, lemon juice and salt. Whisk the ingredients together.

  3. Step 3

    Cut the pear into long slices, removing the core and seeds. Add the pear pieces to the bowl.

  4. Step 4

    Heat the walnut pieces in a dry pan for about 3 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Add the arugula to the other ingredients. Divide among four plates and put the pear pieces on top.

  6. Step 6

    Sprinkle the walnuts on top.

  7. Step 7

    Add shavings of parmesan cheese on top of the salads.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using pre-washed arugula salad can cut down on prep time.
  • Using high-quality parmesan cheese will make the salad even tastier.
