Does your hair resemble dry angel hair pasta? The remedy is deep conditioning and moisturizing, but it can be expensive to purchase a good hair mask! You can make your own for a fraction of the cost. Read on…

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 3 T. Mayonnaise
  • One Whole Egg
  • A bowl
  • One drop essential oil (optional)

Step1
Use this recipe to help moisturize dry hair. It works just like an oil treatment for a fraction of the price.

This makes one application for short to shoulder length hair. Double the recipe for long hair. It only takes a few minutes to create!
Step2
Mayonnaise Measure the mayonnaise into a bowl.
Step3
Whole Egg Add the whole egg to the mayonnaise. (Crack it open, of course!)
Step4
Blended mixture of mayonnaise and egg Mix the two ingredients evenly, allowing the yolk to act as an emulsifier. Blend for a few minutes until completely mixed together.
Step5
Essential Oils At this point, you may add the essential oil.* (See Warnings)
Step6
Apply the mixture to your hair. Add more to the tips of your hair (where it can be especially dry) and then bundle your hair on top of your head. Secure it with a clip or cap. Leave on for at least 15 minutes, longer if your hair is particularly dry.

Rinse the mixture off and shampoo and style as usual.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you happen to have any left over, it must be refrigerated. Keep only a few days.
  • Use ONLY ONE drop of essential oil, as this oil is very concentrated and can burn your skin/scalp!
  • TEST THE OIL on a small part of your skin for allergies/reactions first!!
