Many of our thoughts and desires are frightening and downright cruel. It is important not to act on them. Keeping a clear conscience does not mean ridding yourself of dangerous thoughts. That would be impossible. What a clear conscience entails is a concern and awareness to how your actions may affect others. Here are a few steps you can take to ensure a relatively guilt free existence and many a sleep-filled night.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Treat others as you wish to be treated. Sounds easy, right? Give it a try. Be hyper-aware of how your words and actions affect others. You'll be quite surprised.

  2. Step 2

Money should never be the sole motivating factor in any human interaction. If you are doing things only for financial reward, take a step back and reevaluate your priorities.

  3. Step 3

Reserve the phrase "I love you" strictly for people whom you love. It's too strong a sentiment to cheapen with mere words.

  4. Step 4

Avoid any actions that knowingly will cause harm to another.

  5. Step 5

    Be kind to animals.

  6. Step 6

Be polite and courteous to others.

  7. Step 7

Be available to give and receive affection.

  8. Step 8

Mind your own business. You have plenty of faults of your own which need improving upon.

  9. Step 9

Always think before you act. This will greatly reduce the likelihood of inappropriate behavior.

Tips & Warnings
  • No one will be able to live by these standards at every moment of everyday. There are too many intangibles involved. The idea is to be cognizant of your behavior and continue to make improvements.
