When you are the new person in town it can be difficult to find places to meet new people. It becomes even more difficult when you don't work with anyone your own age or attend a school with people of similar interest. It doesn't matter if you have moved for college, work, or just a great experience try these places to meet new people and improve your social life in your new area.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Personality
  • Determination
  • Transportation
  • An address book

Step1
On our way to one of those free events. Browse articles about the area you have moved too. Often there will be listings for free events or it will list clubs and groups and the area.
Step2
Meeting at the local church group. Check out local church groups. Many churches have single adult groups, married groups, youth groups etc. etc.
Step3
French class! Take a night class or a workshop in something that interest you. Foreign language classes are great because you have to spend time speaking and interacting with other students, so the class naturally breaks the ice for you.
Step4
Join a club. Weather it is sports, scrap booking, reading, or whatever your wild interest may be, you will be spending time doing and discussing something you like while meeting new people.
Step5
Volunteer. Have a cause that you feel strongly about? Then get active and participate in local meetings. You will be doing something you believe in and meeting people interested in that same thing.
Step6
Surf team! Join a team. If you play sports this is a good place to meet people and many organizations have websites where you can get information about team meetings and activities.
Step7
Used myspace to meet other new people to the metro area. Browse Myspace or another networking organization. Look for people from your new area that may have been in the same situation. They will know your pain and be more willing to help you out.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you meet people add them to your cell phone's address book that way you will know who is calling and you will be able to get into contact with them.
  • Another great way to stay in contact with new people is through online networking sites, so add new people to your myspace or facebook.
  • Be cautious about meeting people you met online.
