Things You'll Need:
- Masking Tape
- Cleaner
- Oil
- Rags
- Dremmel
- Jewelers Rouge
-
Step 1
Cover the entire fret board in masking tape. Press it on firmly. Then remove it carefully. This will remove some of the junk that gets into the grains.
-
Step 2
Use a guitar cleaner to remove any gunk on the fret board and any glue left behind from the tape. Don't scrub with abrasive materials or it will cause scratches.
-
Step 3
If the fret board is still thirsty or dull looking, shine it up with a soft cloth and lemon oil. If you do not have lemon oil, any clean machine oil is OK also.
-
Step 4
If you get ambitious and have the tools, you can use a dremmel with a buffing tip and jewelers rouge to shine up the frets. This really makes a big difference in the way it looks.
