How to get around with a broken keyboard on Windows XP

Sometimes your keyboard breaks down when you are in a jam. If you have a functional mouse here is a way to get you through some tough keyboard jams.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Windows XP
  • A working mouse

Step1
go to the Start button
Step2
Click on All Programs
Step3
Click on Accessories
Step4
Click on Accessibility
Step5
Click on On-Screen Keyboard
Step6
You can click on Settings in the Keyboard to always make sure the keyboard is on top when you are typing
Step7
You can now click with your mouse all the letters you need to type.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can replace most USB keyboards without restarting, but many PS2 keyboards will require you to reboot before they work. Especially if they have multifunction keys.
  • This will not work if you have to login before you can get into Windows.
