When the time comes along to move your toddler from diapers to the potty, take solace in the fact that you are not alone. The potty can be a scary device for a little one, and an even scarier device when their are two minds working together. Fraternal twins will be potty trained in different ways, but it is truly easy to introduce the potty to your fraternal twins.

Step1

Allow them to see. It is important for your toddler to see you use the bathroom. This includes both number one and number two. Try to leave the bathroom door open when potty trained family members are using the bathroom.

Step2

Make the seat a friend. All too many times, parents try to potty train fraternal twins by using the same potty seat. Both girls and boys will potty train differently and they are truly different people. Give them each a chance to be an individual with their own potty seat. Allowing your fraternal twins to play with the seat, will encourage understanding and discourage fright about the seat.

Step3

Be patient. Fraternal twins are a unique group in that they are different from each other yet the same in some ways. Boys and girls potty train on different schedules. Be patient if one trains faster than the other and when silly fears pop up. (Like being scared of automatic flushing toilets)

Tips & Warnings

Fraternal twins are boy and girl, they will not potty train the same.
Keep a close eye on your twins when the bathroom door is open, they will try to play in the toilet water and this could be dangerous.
