Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing software that helps to add an image to your document and you want the image to have some degree of transparency. By default, an image or other object appears opaque, but it is possible to create an effect that makes the object appear translucent.

Instructions

How to Alter the Opacity of an Image

  1. Step 1

Open an Adobe InDesign document containing an image.

  2. Step 2

Activate the SELECTION TOOL in the Tools box. Select the image on the page.

  3. Step 3

Select TRANSPARENCY from the Window menu to open the Transparency palette.

  4. Step 4

Click the drop-down arrow in the Opacity field to display the slider.

  5. Step 5

100% opacity means that the image is solid.

Drag the slider to the left to make the image appear more translucent.

Drag the slider to the right to make the image appear more solid.

Alternatively, you may type a percentage into the Opacity field to adjust the appearance of the image. All changes are visible in real-time.
