How to Send a Fax Without a Fax Machine

You can send faxes without having to buy a fax machine.

If you need to send a fax to someone but don't have a fax machine, don't worry. You can send faxes online by using an Internet faxing service provider. These providers often charge a fee for their services, but check around -- some offer free trials that will allow you to send a free fax or two.

  Choose an Internet faxing service provider and create an account. Most services charge around $10 a month for online faxing, but many different plans are usually available.

  Prepare the document that you need to fax. Make sure that it is filled out completely and signed, if necessary.

  Scan the document with your scanner or all-in-one printer. Save the file as a .pdf, .doc, .tif or .jpg -- whatever your provider requires.

  Follow the instructions from your Internet faxing service provider and upload your saved document or image. Once the file is uploaded, follow the directions to send your fax.
