Want some tall border plants for your garden but don't want to check all the labels? These plants get over two feet tall and make great stand out pieces in any garden spot.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Galax urceolata (Poir.) Brummitt - beetleweed

This dainty flower gets up to 2-3 feet tall with a spacing zone of 2-3 feet. It prefers partial to full shade. Tons of tiny white flowers on spikes will appear from mid spring to mid summer. There are heart shaped bronze green herbaceous leaves that florists sometimes use for wreaths at Christmas time. It is a hardy plant. You can propagate this by dividing the rootball.

  2. Step 2

Filipendula rubra (Hill) B.L. Robins. - queen of the prairie

This plant is a favorite of butterflies, birds, and bees. It grows up to 4 feet tall and has a 2-3 foot spread. It loves full sun and moist soil. Its blooms are pink and grow from spring to summer. You need to cut the foliage back when it starts to brown.

  3. Step 3

Eryngium yuccifolium Michx. - button eryngo

This plant grows up to 4 feet and has an 18 inch spread. It prefers full sun and moist soil to grow efficiently. It has pale green to light blue blooms coming mid summer. It is ornamental and easy to grow; out of the carrot family. You can divide the root ball to propagate.

  4. Step 4

Helenium autumnale L. - common sneezeweed

This upright hardy reaches a height of 4-6 feet and a spread of 3-4 feet. It will bloom August to October in the red, yellow, and orange spectrum. It does best in full sun and moist soil. You can collect seed heads when the flowers fade to collect seed; or divide in spring or fall to propagate.
