Nelson is nestled in the Selkirk Mountains bordered by Kootenay Lake. A much more picturesque location can be hard to come by. Known at the "Queen City", Nelson started out as a mining town which later went through a restoration of it's heritage buildings. That metamorphosis gained Nelson a permanent spot on tourism maps and caught the eye of Hollywood for the filming of the 1987 movie Roxanne, starring Steve Martin.
