Perhaps you remember the first skateboards that appeared in towns across American in the not too long ago. We're not sure who invented them, but this is how my dad made skateboards at home back in the 1950s.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Wood {plank or whatever you can find)
  • Old skates or other old wheels

Step1
Find a piece of wood, any wood will do it is probably best that you get something similar in size and shape of modern boards but you do not need to. You may cut the wood into a better shape if you have enough and want to.
Step2
Take apart the skates bottom. The goal is not to damage the wheels or bearings that hold the skates to the wheels. You might be able to unscrew the skates from the show. There is a possibility you may have to break the skate off. Just try to get the best flatest piece you can.
Step3
If you can get the skates with screws attached. Place the wheels at opposite ends with about 4 inches on each side. You can the drill holes where the skates match up with the board.
If you can't use screws or bolts, look for some industrial strength adhesives. You can find these at Home Deport or Lowes.
Step4
Now you can decorate it, my father nailed orange carpet onto his first skateboard (remember this was the 50's).
