How to Make Church Window Cookies

When in a hurry for a cookie or candy Church Window Cookies fit the bill. These only take 4 ingredients and no baking is necessary.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • microwave oven or regular stove top burners
  • three small bowls
  • 1 medium to large size mixing bowl
  • wooden spoon
  • refrigerator
  • wax paper
  • small sauce pan for stove top if not using a microwave
  • Ingredients are:
  • one stick of butter or margarine
  • 1 (6 0z.) package of chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts good but opt. for younger
  • children
  • 1 package mini colored marshmallows
  • flaked coconuts
  1. Step 1

    Melt the butter and chocolate chips together either in the pan on low on stove top burner or in the microwave. Continually stir until melted.
    cool. After cooling in a medium to large size bowl place chocolate mixture and add nuts (if desired) and marshmallows and stir until completely covered.

  2. Step 2

    Divide mixture into three bowls. Place flaked coconut on a sheet of waxed paper. Spread chocolate over coconut. Form a large roll. Continue to do this with the other two parts. Wrap each section in waxed paper.

  3. Step 3

    Chill in refrigerator or freezer overnight. Unwrap. Slice and enjoy!
    Yields about 3 dozen cookies or can be cut in small pieces like candy.
    Very pretty displayed on reflective plate or serving tray for part of an edible centerpiece. Surround with candles and let the plate or tray be part of decorations for your table if served for a specific occasion or holiday.

Tips & Warnings
  • Constantly stir the chocolate and butter mixture on low if using stove.
  • If using a microwave for blending chocolate and butter pause every 30 seconds to stir until melted together.
  • Mixture of chocolate and butter is hot! Let cool completely before adding nuts and marshmallows or it will melt them too.
