When it comes to a child's education, many people need to be involved. The old adage that "it takes a village to raise a child" is still true today. Schools are unable to accommodate every need and are often left under funded. With a bit of time and organization of your school's efforts, you can assist your child's school in providing a well-funded education for all students.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Participate in fundraising. You can just sell or buy what they are selling, or you can be more active. You can volunteer to help coordinate the fundraiser and spread the word about the needs of the school.

  2. Step 2

Join the PTA or PTO. This excellent organization assists teachers and parents in choosing projects the school does not have funding for, but desperately need. The PTA works to improve the school and involve other parents.

  3. Step 3

Volunteer in the classroom. Many schools need volunteers in the classroom. Depending on your school, you may be reading to kids, organizing paperwork, making copies, or helping with parties. Teachers need as much help as they can get.

  4. Step 4

If you use a Target visa, you can designate a school to donate to. Target sends a portion of what you spend on your Visa to the school of your choice. It isn't a lot of money, but every little bit helps. This is something you can do without changing your lifestyle!

  5. Step 5

Attend school events as often as possible. Seeing what the school is doing will help you to know how you can best help. Donations of money and time are important to the success of schools.

on 12/20/2007 These are great tips! Some teachers will actually send sign ups home for the activities they are looking for help with or crafts they need cut out, etc. Thank you for sharing!
