How to Make Easy Salmon Croquettes

There's nothing quite like good, old-fashioned Southern cuisine. No matter what part of the world you're from, there's bound to be a Southern-style dish that delights your taste buds. Salmon croquettes have long been a popular component of classic Southern cuisine. When enjoyed fresh out of the frying pan, these tasty treats create plenty of satisfied smiles and requests for seconds. The following is a recipe for easy salmon croquettes.

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 12 oz can of pink salmon
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of yellow corn meal
  • 1/4 cup of chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 large spoon or potato masher
  • 1 bottle of cooking oil
  • 1 Frying pan
  • 1 spatula/pancake turner
  • 1 serving plate
  • 1 roll of paper towels
  1. Step 1

    Combine all the ingredients except for the flour into one large bowl. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your large spoon or potato masher.

  2. Step 2

    Add the flour to your mixture a little at a time to get the right consistency for your taste. you may end up needing less than 1/4 cup.

  3. Step 3

    Mold the mixture with your hands and form it into several small patties, just as you would if you were making a big home-style hamburger.

  4. Step 4

    Pour enough cooking oil into your frying pan to coat it evenly and preheat it over medium heat.

  5. Step 5

    Place the patties into the frying pan very gently. Put in as many as you can, but be sure to leave enough room to turn them over.

  6. Step 6

    Cook the patties one one side until medium brown on one side. Then, turn them over with your spatula/pancake turner to cook the other side just the same.

  7. Step 7

    Remove the patties from the frying pan and place on a plate covered with a paper towel to soak up any excess oil. Serve and enjoy your easy salmon croquettes.
