Two years ago I threw a surprise party for my mom who was turning 60! I knew I wanted to give her a special party but didn't know quite what to do. My brother and sister in law (who live out of town) helped with ideas and I brought them to life. We decided on a Hawaiian theme with lei' s, grass skirts, tiki torches and a roast pig! Through some little white lies and sweat, the party went off without a hitch and my mom was ecstatic!!

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • creativity
  • time to get thing's in order
  • friends and family willing to keep their mouth shut and a willingness to help
  1. Step 1

give yourself at least 6 months to get thing's ready
decide on what kind of party you want to throw. Food, decorations, who to invite......

  2. Step 2

once you decide what kind of party and where to have it. Enlist family and friends and give them jobs to do and tell them to call you when they complete it so you know what is done and what is not. For my mom's, my fiance and his family lived in Hawaii so they were a great source of information on a luau!

  3. Step 3

Be prepared to tell white lies to the unsuspected, so you can get them to where they are suppose to be. For bartending, I had my friend and her husband be bartenders, I dressed them up in hawaiian shirts and leis and they had a ball being the bartender. They even brought a hawaiian punch drink to the party.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help. Family and friends are a great resource for throwing parties. They may even come up with some good ideas you could use!
