Step 1
Fire Extinguisher. It should be kept in an easily reachable place, not out of the way or in another room. Note there are different types of extinguishers for different kinds of fires. Make sure you purchase one that is appropriate for paper, chemical and electrical fires. Also note your extinguisher should be examined once a year.

Step 2
Emergency Eye Wash. If you can not afford an industrial eye wash, you can at least make your own by attaching a rubber hosing to a faucet.
-
Step 3
Smoke Detectors. These are especially important to have if you are working in your own home.
-
Step 4
Fire Blankets. Good to have on hand in case of an electrical fire.
-
Step 5
First Aid Kit. Keep within plain site and easy reach. You will not want to be stumbling around looking for it in the dark.
-
Step 6
List of Emergency Numbers. Good numbers to have on hand include your local poison control, fire department, doctor and your own personal emergency contacts.
