How to Make a Lemon Battery

Sometimes you need power, and all you've got is a lemon, a penny, and a zinc tablet.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Lemon
• Penny
• Zinc tablet
• Sandpaper

1. Rub the penny and the zinc tablet with the sandpaper until they're both clean and smooth.

2. Toss the lemon around to loosen up its juices. Be careful not to break the peel.

3. Slice 2 slits into the top of the lemon.

4. Insert the penny in one slit and the zinc tablet in the other.

5. Touch the penny and the zinc, and you've got a current. Congratulations on your new voltaic cell lemon battery!
