How to Make a Kindling Gift Basket

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Kindling
• Tinder (best-fruit tree twigs)
• Matches
• Dried citrus peels
• Newspaper
• Twine
• Basket or aluminum tub
• Ribbon and bow
• Gift tag

1. Gather kindling (small branches or cut pieces) and tinder (tiwgs and chips). If you use fruit tree tinder, a fragrant fruity scent will be released.

2. Peel a few oranges, grapefruit and tangerines. Leave the peel out for a few days to dry out or put them on a cookie sheet at low heat for a few hours.

3. 

   Take a sheet of newspaper and roll it into a tight tube (or fold it into small accordion pleats). Tie it in a simple knot or twist the ends of the tube together and fasten with twine.

4. Put the kindling, tinder, matches and newspaper rolls into the basket or tub. Attach a gift tag with a handwritten note. Tie a Christmas ribbon and bow around the gift basket.

Tips & Warnings

• Add barbeque skewers and a s'mores kit for a little extra "sweet."
