Have you been waiting to find a recipe for a perfectly refreshing summer cocktail? What could be more thirst-quenching than a spiked, citrus, fizzy drink for lazy days on the patio? Read on to learn more about how to mix the ultimate, original summer cocktail. This is a cocktail recipe that is simple and appeals to many tastes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Tall cocktail glass (“high ball”)
  • Shaker
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Lemon wedges
  • Ice cubes
  • 8 oz. carbonated citrus soda
  • 1 1/2 oz. high-end vodka

Step1
Place a high ball (tall cocktail glass) in the freezer to chill for a few minutes. Fill a metal shaker with ice cubes.
Step2
Measure 1 1/2 shots vodka and pour into shaker.
Step3
Pour 8 oz. fizzy citrus soda into shaker.
Step4
Squeeze the juice of a generously sized lemon wedge into the shaker. Set the wedge aside.
Step5
Close the shaker and shake mixture vigorously. Let stand for a few minutes to allow the carbonation to settle.
Step6
Remove the chilled glass from the freezer and pour the cocktail mix (including ice) into the glass. Add the lemon wedge or place it on the rim as garnish. Enjoy your summer cocktail!

Tips & Warnings

  • Use 2 oz. soda, 1 oz. vodka and a martini glass for a straight-up cocktail. Strain the ice through the cocktail shaker when you pour the mixture into the martini glass.
  • Tweak the cocktail recipe depending on the alcohol content you desire. Earlier on during cocktail hour you can easily turn the cocktail into a milder vodka cooler by adding more ice, lemon and soda.
  • Drink only if you are of age and always use judgment when consuming alcoholic beverages.
