Chocolate Ganache is a thick chocolate sauce that sets up to a semi-solid consistency. It is suitable as a chocolate drizzle or topping for other desserts.

With this Chocolate Ganache you can turn an otherwise mundane cake or cookie into a special gourmet treat.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • small microwave safe bowl
  • fork or small whisk
  • 2 oz of butter salted or unsalted
  • 1/4 tsp of salt if unsalted butter is used
  • 4 oz of bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  1. Step 1

place butter in bowl and microwave for 20 seconds

  2. Step 2

remove from microwave and stir until butter is melted

  3. Step 3

microwave a few seconds more if necessary

  4. Step 4

add broken up chocolate to butter and let it sit for at least one minute. Stir the chocolate into the butter. The chocolate will soften and blend into the butter given a little time.

You may heat in the microwave in 5 second increments if necessary. Again, always give the chocolate time to melt.

  5. Step 5

stir the vanilla extract into the chocolate

  6. Step 6

Your Chocolate Ganache is done. Drizzle it over plain cake, cookies, croissants, or ice cream for a luscious chocolate gourmet treat.

Tips & Warnings
  • give the chocolate time to soften
  • try making this with milk chocolate, peppermint bark, or white chocolate for variety
  • do not over heat the chocolate in the microwave as it will scorch easily
