Dust, dirt and general disarray can really detract from the charm of your apartment. Don’t go weeks or even months with a filthy apartment, particularly if you expect guests, parents, friends or dates to grace your space.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Paper towels
  • All-purpose spray disinfectant and cleaner
  • Mop or floor cleaner equipment
  • Bathroom bleach
  1. Step 1

Clear your apartment of all clutter than may impede the cleaning process. Be sure all floor and other surfaces are freed up.

  2. Step 2

Begin cleaning your apartment by vacuuming all floor surfaces both hard and carpeted. Don’t forget to run the vacuum over the kitchen and bathroom tile.

  3. Step 3

Start with the difficult rooms, such as the kitchen or the bathroom. Once the floor tiles are free of dust, hair and crumbs, use a mop or other floor cleaner to scrub the surfaces. Start with the farthest parts of the room and make your way towards the door. Let dry.

  4. Step 4

Tackle porcelain sinks, tubs and toilets. Disinfect and use a bleach substance on sink or shower stains.

  5. Step 5

Use all-purpose cleaner to wipe off counters, bookshelves and tables in your main room, bedroom and hall. If you have wood surfaces, apply a spray or oil conditioner.

  6. Step 6

Clean mirrors and windows with spray cleaner and paper towers or cloth.

  7. Step 7

Return all objects to tables and counter tops only after you’ve allowed ample time for the surfaces to dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • When cleaning the floors you may want to put on a pair of socks so that your feet don’t make smudge marks on the newly cleaned surfaces.
