Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PC or Mac
  • QuarkXPress
  • A graphic element
  1. Step 1

Start QuarkXPress and open a project file into which you want to insert an image. The image can be a photograph, clip-art or illustration.

  2. Step 2

Select the “Picture Box” button from the “Tools Palette.” It’s the button that displays as an “X” within a rectangular box. The cursor displays as a “+” icon.

  3. Step 3

Position the cursor where you want the box to display.

  4. Step 4

Holding the mouse button down, drag the box to the size you want. When the correct size is reached, let go of the mouse button. The box displays with handles at each corner to allow you to resize the box.

  5. Step 5

With the box still selected, select “Get Picture” from the “File” menu. The “Get Picture” dialog box displays.

  6. Step 6

Browse to the picture you want to insert, select it and click the “Open” button. The picture displays in the box in its exact size. If the picture is large, you will only see a portion of the image.

  7. Step 7

To make the entire picture fill the designated picture box, right-click the picture and select “Fit Picture to Box.” The image resizes to fit the picture box.

Tips & Warnings
  • After making an image fit a picture box, you may notice that the picture appears elongated or distorted. You may have to change the size or dimensions of the picture box to get the exact image quality you need.
