Paint Shop Pro, sometimes referred to as the “poor man’s Photoshop,” is surprisingly flexible and powerful for professional editing of images and photos.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paint Shop Pro
  • PC
  • An electronic image
  1. Step 1

Open Paint Shop Pro XI and open an image that you want to resize.

  2. Step 2

Click the “Crop” tool from the "Tools" toolbar. A default crop area rectangle displays over the image. The image outside the default crop area appears shaded.

  3. Step 3

Use the handles on the edges of the default crop area, as you would in most Windows applications, to resize the rectangle around the area you want to include in the cropped image.

  4. Step 4

Notice at the bottom of the image a mini-floating toolbar. This toolbar contains four commands: “Apply,” “Clear,” “Rotate” and a drop-down command labeled “Free form.”

  5. Step 5

You can select a preset crop size by selecting a size from the drop-down.

  6. Step 6

When you have positioned the rectangle around the area you want to include in the cropped image, click the “Apply” button on the floating toolbar.

  7. Step 7

    Save the file.
