Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Suede
- Suede Cleaner
- Suede Dye
Step1
Clean: Deep clean the suede using a suede and roughout cleaner. Follow manufacturer specifications for best results. Let suede dry completely before continuing on.
Step2
Sprays: If you are restoring suede that was previously dyed, you can try a spray on suede restorer. These are arousal products that usually work for various types of material.
Step3
Dye Application: Apply the dye to the suede. Apply evenly over the entire surface. Large areas can be done using spray applicators. If desired, apply two coats.
Step4
After dying, remove the excess dye using a rag. Make sure to rub out all of the excess dye.
Step5
Intermediate Dying: If you are changing the color significantly, it may be necessary to go to another color which is only a little darker first. For example, if dying from white to red, first dye tan, then red. Check with the manufacturer for your dye to get advice on intermediate dying.
