QuarkXPress is most commonly known as software that is used to create and edit complex layouts for print publication. However, you can also create a basic website with multiple pages in this desktop publishing program. The following explains how to export a QuarkXPress file to HTML.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mac or PC
  1. Step 1

Start QuarkXPress and create a new project by selecting “Project” from the “File/New” menu. The “New Project” dialog box displays. Notice that there is a place to name the layout. Right below that is a field called “Layout Type.”

  2. Step 2

Click the drop-down menu next to the “Layout Type” field and select “Web.” A simple web layout displays on the QuarkXPress main screen.

  3. Step 3

Create your website using the Web layout. You can use regular QuarkXPress commands, menus and toolbars in this format.

  4. Step 4

Save the file when you are done creating the website.

  5. Step 5

Select “Export” and then “HTML” from the “File” menu to create HTML from the project file. The “Export HTML” dialog box displays.

  6. Step 6

Choose a location for your file. The “Export HTML” dialog box lets you save the project and all pages within the file to a specific location. Besides HTML, it also lets you save the project as XHTML 1.1 and XSLT 1.0.

  7. Step 7

Select “HTML” from the drop-down menu next to the “Export as” field.

  8. Step 8

Click the “Launch Browser” check box if you want the project to display in a web browser.

  9. Step 9

Click the “Export” file. If you checked the “Launch Browser” box, your web browser will open allowing you to preview the HTML website.
