Martinis are perhaps the world's most widely known cocktail. The Gibson, a variation on the martini, is garnished with a pickled cocktail onion. Follow these easy instructions to make a Gibson cocktail.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Start by chilling the martini glass. Place the glass in a freezer, or fill it with ice and water while you prepare your Gibson cocktail.

  2. Step 2

    Fill the cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 oz. of vodka or gin to the shaker, as well as a splash of dry vermouth.

  3. Step 3

    Stir or shake the Gibson according to preference, allowing a small amount of ice to melt into the drink.

  4. Step 4

    Strain the ingredients into your chilled martini glass.

  5. Step 5

    Finish the drink by adding a cocktail onion.

Tips & Warnings
  • Martini drinkers tend to prefer a high-quality (or "top-shelf") vodka or gin in their martini.
